Review L’Agrume French Restaurant Paris

If you’re going to explore the Jardin des Plantes and its many attractions in the 5th Arrondissement of Paris, you’re going to get hungry. The area is pretty diverse, this means that you’ll have no problem finding good Vietnamese, Chinese, and Arabic places. French places…that’s a different story. There are many ok and sub par places, but L’Agrume is the exception. The restaurant is tiny, maybe about 15 tables. There is seating at the “bar” as well that looks into the restaurant’s open kitchen. The menu, surprisingly affordable:
  • €17 gets you the Plate of the day
  • €22 gets you an assortment of 3 (not 1) appetizers & a plate of the day OR a plate of the day & dessert
  • €25 gets you the assortment of 3 appetizers, the plate of the day, AND dessert
Antonio and I opted to get the Plate of the day for him and I got the assortement & Plate. This worked out perfectly. The three appetizers were perfect for the both of us and we saved a few bucks. The food is outstanding here. What we had: Assortment of Appetizers:  pink shrimp in a cream of avocado and lemon, white ham with melon and ruccola, and a creamy soup of langoustines Plat: Filet of cod on braised leeks and an iodized foam Plat: Roasted beef with small potatoes and mushrooms in beef jus Everything served was outstanding, the service was friendly without being overbearing, and the wines were affordable at  €6-7 per glass. This restaurant is an incredible deal considering the quality of food served. Our server mentioned that the fish comes from Brittany and that all the vegetables come from farms the Chef, Franck Marchesi-Grandi (Le Bernadin alum) has picked out himself. Go. You’ll enjoy this mean incredibly! L’Agrume is located at 15 rue des Fossés-St-Marcel, 75005 Paris (5th Arrondissement) Phone : +33143318648 Hours of Operation: Closed Sunday & Monday.
