Where to Eat in Strasbourg

Le Buereheisel   One of the best things about going to France is that the majority of Michelin Starred restaurants offer AMAZING lunch deals. This means that you can go to Picard, pick up amazing frozen meals for the week (if you have an Airbnb rental with a kitchen), and save money to have incredible lunches…I do this every time I go to Strasbourg – at one of my favorites – Eric Westerman’s Le Buerehiesel. Why do I love it so? Eric Westermann’s Le Buerehiesel is a deal Enjoy a Michelin Star meal in a fairy tale setting for under $40 USD Imagine yourself in an Alsatian farm from the 1600′s. It is nestled among nature. As you wait for your meal, you can see storks flying outside your window. The city disappears and you are suddenly in a story book…but the evil step mother is missing (if you tweet me, I’ll tell you why all those story books feature an evil step mother). This is what lunch at Le Buerehiesel is like. You get a Michelin star meal with none of the stuffiness. You can be comfortable here. You can relax. You forget you are at an award winning restaurant until the food comes out. It is impeccable (I’ve been there 4 times and I’ve had no complaints). Best part? Cheap Michelin Star lunch in Strasbourg A sample Business lunch menu at Eric Westermann’s Strasbourg restaurant Le Buerehiesel Lunch is €37 (roughly $42). Yes, it is more expensive than most, but if you travel smart (stay in a rental instead of a hotel room – make breakfast & dinner at home), you will easily afford this…and feel happy about the calorie expenditure. I know…you want to know what this lunch is like…so here goes: What a one star michelin meal in Strasbourg looks like Sardine poached in Olive Oil at Eric Westermann’s 1 star Michelin restaurant First you get an amuse bouche – it was a sardine poached in olive oil. It was gentle, refined. Even a fish hater would have fallen in love with this dish. Part of the business lunch at Eric Westermann’s restaurant We always have an amazing meal in Strasbourg…when we go to Buerehiesel – who knew greens could taste so good The first course was a Green Asparagus, with a perfectly cooked quail egg, white sausage with truffle butter and lemon. Who knew sausage could be fancy…I did…but Eric Westermann and his team go beyond this. Le Buerehiesel Michelin starred restaurant’s lamb Perfectly cooked lamb like this is the reason I am a carnivore Aveyron lamb confit with wild garlic, and stewed vegetables. Hate to say it, but this lamb did not die a worthless death. The team at Le Buerehiesel respected this lovely animals life. Thank you little lamb. Thank you. Tarte Tatin French Dessert An incredible dessert. Just sweet enough…and enough to leave me wanting more For dessert, apple tatin, with a blanc manger with Calvados and ice cream, caramel fleur de sel. Second dessert at Michelin Starred restaurant Le Buerehiesel Eric Westermann’s team always gives you extra treats at the end of your meal And, as always they brought out their signature cinnamon baked leaves and tons of extra goodies to enjoy like chocolate marshmallows, nougat, and chocolate cake. Almost forgot. The wine selections are quite fair. €7 for white €9 for red and worth every penny. Their somm always makes amazing choices. So…skip a few meals, and book a lunch (or two) at Le Buerehiesel. You will thank me.
