I'm trying to book car hire for our holiday in August, and by mistake got a quote in Dollars - $1,728. I tried again in euros and it comes to €2869. I even spoke to them on live chat to check and they confirmed that if I was a US citizen that I pay half the price for car hire than if I am a European citizen. This is crazy, and feel we are being completely ripped , and they told me its because they have different contracts with different countries - what ever that means. But no one could explain exactly why I have to pay £1,000 more as a European than a non-European. Does anyone here know why, or are we being ripped for taking our kids abroad in their summer holidays which is what I suspect.
