Dear Blanca,
I recently had an unforgettable visit to Lisbon and absolutely loved it! Now I’m wondering where I can find local living accommodations. Do the locals in Lisbon rent out their places or something? Ogden, UT
Cheers,
Curly & Corey
Dear Blanca,
It’s no wonder we enjoyed our stay in Lisbon – it offers so much to experience! Now that we’re looking to find more permanent living arrangements there, we’ve come to the right person. As a resident of Lisbon, we’d love to hear your advice!
In Lisbon, we’ll have the advantage of choosing from several distinct residential areas. For traditional appeal, the Alfama District is the oldest and most classic part of the city with its maze of narrow alleyways and vibrant Fado music. Young professionals and students flock to the Bairro Alto neighborhood to be close to the nightlife, bars and shopping. On the banks of the Tagus River lies the Belém District, boasting grand monuments and interesting historical sites. Meanwhile, in central Lisbon the Chiado District offers a truly metropolitan atmosphere with endless dining, shopping, and entertainment options. And finally, modern conveniences can be found in the Parque das Nações, featuring restaurants, museums, and leisure spots.
Here are a few facts about these notable districts:
• Alfama District:
This district is the oldest district in Lisbon, having roots in the Islamic occupation. It is home to many carefully preserved old buildings and narrow alleyways.
• Bairro Alto:
This area is well-known for its many restaurants, nightlife, shops and galleries. This district bustles with energy and culture.
• Belém District:
This district is located near the Tagus River and is littered with monuments and historical sites. It is also home to the iconic Monument to the Discoveries, which is a large stone monument celebrating the Age of Exploration.
Overall, there’s no shortage of attractive places to live in Lisbon, and each neighborhood has its own unique qualities. We’re sure Ogden, UT has its own charms, but nothing quite like the neighborhoods of Lisbon. Best of luck on your search!
Sincerely,
Curly & Corey
