What You Need to Know Before Riding An Electric Scooter in Lisbon

The new e-scooter laws in Lisbon are meant to curb the issue of scooters left randomly through the city

Speed Limits: That’s right, those reckless scooter riders will have to slow down, because there’s a new speed limit of 20km/h.

Designated Parking Areas: And don’t even think about parking on the sidewalk or going the wrong way on the streets, because there are now designated ‘hotspots’ for parking and violators will be dealt with accordingly.

No Parking Zones: Looks like the e-scooter riders in Portugal are in for a real test of their parking skills, because the new regulations prohibit parking in a whole bunch of places! Where can’t you park?

  • Squares
  • Sidewalks
  • Railway & Metro stations
  • Historical buildings, you name it!

And good luck finding a spot near all those beautiful historic sites, because those are off limits too. Even the railway and metro stations are off limits, so it’s gonna be like trying to find a needle in a haystack of ancient architecture. But hey, at least it will be a fun challenge.

Limited Amount of Scooters on The Streets: Oh, and for all you speed demons out there, beware, there’s now a limit on the number of scooters allowed on the streets. Looks like you’ll have to find a new butt-busting hobby! Just how many e-scooters will be allowed on the streets:
