Dear Blanca,
I’m from Berlin and I’m planning a summer vacation in Lisbon soon, but before I pack my suitcase and set off, I’m curious – is Lisbon warm all year? I’m hoping to make the most of my sunshine getaway, but I’d be embarassad if I show up to beach-ready and it’s coat weather!
Thanks in advance,
Berlin-based Breanna
Dear Breanna,
I’m glad you’re planning on visiting Lisbon for your summer vacation! Although Lisbon is located along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, it doesn’t mean that you’ll be soaking up sun in a winter coat; the city still enjoys mild temperatures all year round.
This warm climate is thanks to the Gulf Stream, which tempers the temperatures. In the winter, Lisbon experiences a pleasant warm and wet weather and the temperatures usually don’t drop below 5°C. During the hot summer months, you can expect the temperatures to reach up to 27°C and to make the most of the sunshine.
Here are some temperature facts about Lisbon that you should consider when packing:
• Winter Temperature:
– Average: 5°C
– Lowest Recorded Temperature: -2°C
• Summer Temperature:
– Average: 27°C
– Highest Recorded Temperature: 40°C
So, depending on the style of vacation you’re going for, you can be sure that Lisbon has you covered! Pack your swimsuit, beachwear, and a light jumper according to the temperatures and you will be set for your getaway.
I hope this helps you to make the most out of your sunshine getaway. Enjoy your stay in Lisbon and if you’re missing your hometown, come visit us and I’ll show the beauty of the city to you.
Warm regards,
Blanca Valbuena
