Is Lisbon GMT or GMT 1?

Dear Blanca,

I’m Marby from Madrid, and I have a question that has been keeping me up at night: Is Lisbon GMT or GMT 1?

You might think this is a strange question, but I’m preparing for a Portugal-themed party and I want to decorate with the colors of the country’s flags! The only problem is, I’m not sure what time zone I should represent for Lisbon. Can you help me out?

Thanks for the wisdom,
Marby from Madrid

Dear Marby,
Greetings from Lisbon! It’s lovely to hear from you all the way in Madrid, and I must commend you on your enthusiasm for Portugal themed party decorations. You’ve definitely come to the right place to find the answer you’re looking for.

The short answer to your question is that Lisbon is located in GMT +1. This is the same time zone as many of Portugal’s European neighbors, including Madrid – as they share the same time zone, I’m sure you can relate! The GMT +1 time zone offers many advantages, including:

• Daylight Savings:GMT +1 offers Daylight Savings Time, which begins on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in October.
• Duration: The length of daylight hours of the day lasts for 11 hours and 41 minutes.
• Countries:GMT +1 includes several countries in Europe, such as France and Germany, as well as parts of western Africa.

I hope this has helped answer your question, and I wish you the best of luck with your party!

With best wishes,
Blanca Valbuena
