I am coming with my boyfriend in March and I want to buy some cheap portuguese stuff. Something local that I couldn't get in Houston that can fit in my luggage. I want to give a few as gifts but I also want them for myself :)

If you're looking for a savings, check out the Chinese stores. They will have Portuguese souvenirs that you can purchase at pretty good prices but they won't be as special. For a medium range in pricing, Artesanato de Portuga. If you want to spend a little bit more, check out Maria Caetano near Castelo. You can pick up homemade tiles that are spectacular. Finally, A Vida Portuguesa is a fantastic store near Cervejaria Ramiro in that sells some of the prettiest souvenirs in town. These will be the most "expensive" but, they are worth every penny.
++ for chinese stores. Cheap stores with all the typical tourist stuff. Everything is made in China these days.
