I was a digital nomad for years. Throughout that time I always worked from the Airbnbs that I had rented. I was always tempted to use co-working spaces but was simply too damn lazy to do the research to find them in each city that I went to. Funny enough, now that I have moved to Lisbon, I have started using Coworking spaces. It’s been great. I didn’t have to commit to one co-working space, I can decide to go to one if I want to bring the pup, another if I want to meet some people, and another if I want to get things done. I can decide to go to explore a neighborhood in the AM and then go to a space in that area…it really gives me tons of freedom when it comes to working. I decided to write this post on the Best Coworking Spaces in Lisbon so that when you come, you can learn from my honest feedback and pick the one that is best for you. If you have a question on a particular space, just leave a comment and I will get back to you).
The Best Coworking Spaces in Lisbon
IDEIAhub CoWorking Lisbon
If you’re looking to meet other digital entrepreneurs, this is the spot. There are two locations, but you’ll most often see me at the Palacio Sottomaior location next to the Holmes Place gym. This is probably one of the biggest coworking spaces in Lisbon with the most amount of seating. The internet is fast, the A/C works beautifully in the Summer, and there are some really cozy spots. The cafe offers Nespresso coffee at a mere €0.35. When it comes to business amenities, this is “the” place. There’s a printing center, conference room, kitchen, phone booths for quiet calls, and even standing desks. If you want to network and meet people to do some biz, this is the place.
IDEIAhub is located at Avenida Fontes Pereira De Melo Nº 16, Lisboa (+351) 21 099 96 00
Operating Hours at IDEIAhub are 9am-6pm M-F
***Bonus – IDEIAhub is dog-friendly, so I can bring Santino with me when I go.
Avila Spaces CoWorking Lisbon
Avila Spaces located in Avenidas Novas is not as big as IDEIAhub, but it is comfortable and friendly and I fell in love with the place within seconds of arriving. It’s super easy to get to since the metro exit is in front of the building, it is super quiet, and has a real personal touch. The first time I went there, the manager of the spaces came by to introduce himself and to let me know to ask if I needed anything. I happened to go on a Friday and there was a spread of snacks, wine, and beer for happy hour that we could help ourselves too. I also loved the ambient music that was playing.
Avila Spaces is located at Avenida da Republica 6, 1esq, Lisboa (+351)
Operating hours at Avila Co-Working Spaces are 8am-8pm M-F
***Bonus – Unlimited coffee & tea so you can stay caffeinated.
The Block Cafe Lisbon Coworking Space
This place was just darn cute. If you are working on something creative, or are the type of person that needs (or wants) a little distraction from time to time…this is your spot. It’s located in an old apartment that has comfy seats, bohemian decor, and the most amazing deck. There are tables and a bar (which happens to sell some delicious tea)…I want to make this place my home. This is a more down to earth, relaxed type of place.
The Block Cafe is located at Rua Latino Coelho 63, 1st floor, Lisboa
Operating hours at The Block Cafe CoWorking are 10am-6:30 pm M-F
***Perks here include community, meetups, and sunshine!
VRLab
This space is still undergoing construction, but when I visited it was quiet, comfortable, and I was made to feel welcome. They have a couple of cozy nooks if you want to relax for a few. One reason I loved it is that they have awesome technology available. For example, you can rent a green room to do some videos. They also rent out some amazing equipment for VR & AR and from what I saw, it’s going to be amazing once it is done. There’s even going to be a garden out back. I’m excited.
VRLab is located at Rua da Sociedade Farmacêutica 56 R/C (that means first floor)
Operating hours at VRLab are from Mon-Fri 8 am – 11 pm (weekends and nights are available by request ahead of time – at least as of now).
***Perks here include free coffee and tea.
