I recently got a Podengo Portuguese dog and she is so cute but when ever I bring her to visit my family int the UK she doesn't want to go for walks.  We were just in the UK for 2 weeks and she didn't want to leave the house.  She met my mother then just hid below the bed in my family's guest house.   Is this a podengo thing or because of the travel?  It was a bit hot out but I saw dogs playing outside.  Any advice?

Hi Joan,

I am not sure what the weather currently in the UK but a few weeks back it was amazingly hot. I believe you had days over 30-degree. That's incredibly hot for you but remember you're wearing clothes and shoes. So you're protected from the real heat. Here is a chart in Fahrenheit:

You do the conversion. Hot right. Super hot for your Podengo. During hot days here in Lisbon we keep our Podengo Santino indoors as much as possible. We walk him in the morning and at night, that way he gets his time outdoors but no chance of heat stroke.

One more thing to note that if you flew with the dog they sometimes are traumatized by the flight. So usually wears off after a day or so.
