Hello Blanca,

In the situation where my parents (in India) send me (in Aveiro, Portugal) a parcel containing personal used items (like used clothes, shoes, utensils) and packaged food items ................. then also do I need to get customs clearance/pay customs duty?

I did receive a similar parcel in March this year via DPD but I do not understand whether this new rule will pose a problem in my case.

Kindly clarify.

Thank you

Best Regards

Hi Indrani,

You may have to pay customs duty. I'm glad that your previous package came through ok, but so far, as you can see in the article, people have had issues with all kinds of items; even used ones.

I've just told all my family and friends not to send me anything. In my opinion, it is not worth the trouble.
