I am traveling with a few girlfriends to Lisbon for a week and we want to go to the beaches of Cascais and Carcavelos.  We are staying the Rato area and were wondering is there a single Metro ticket that is weekly that we could take to the beaches or do we have to pay daily.  We plan on sunning and body boarding for at least 3 days of our visit then experience Lisboa at night.  Do you have suggestion on which trains and is there a discount for the trains?  Thank you.

Hi Carolyn,

Yes there is the Praia ticket you can get from the Cais do Sobre station. This Beach Ticket will provide you with unlimited travel on both theCascais Line and the Sado Line. It's priced at €12 and will be valid for 7 continuous days. for only € 12, for 7 consecutive days, from the time of purchase.

It's a great deal because you can use it from May 18 - Sept 30th and it give you access to most of the summer destinations like Sintra and Cascais. You would load the ticket on your Viva Viagem card. If you are a local you can load it on your official Via Viagem (non-disposable card). These tickets are good for 1 year but once you activate it on your first trip you have 7-consecutive days to enjoy it or it will be gone.

Here is breakdown of the stops:

Cascais Line (Beaches) - Paço de Arcos, Santo Amaro, Carcavelos, Parede, São Pedro, São João, Estoril, Monte Estoril and Cascais.

Linha do Sado - got to the stations of Setúbal and Praça do Quebedo with bus connections to the areas of Figueirinha and Albarquel beaches and boat to Troia.
