Hi, I'm told that we cna visit the holy site of fatima from Lisbon. Can you advise how long the journey is and whether we go by bus or train? The palce itself is is accessible for elderly people that can't walk far? Do we need to book in advance or can we go whenever we choose? Any help would be appreciated.

There are buses from Lisbon, but I don't think there are trains. Buses take about an hour and a half, driving should take a little over an hour. The site of Fatima is pretty accessible to the elderly and the city is flat, unlike most of Lisbon. I did not make any bookings and got into the site without waiting on line. It just depends on when you go and if there are religious holidays going on. You'll have a wonderful time visiting Fatima.
