Recently I brought my car in from France and I received a payment demand for the IMI tax but it was backdated before we arrived in Portugal. I went to IMI and told them the car wasn't staying in Portugal since I have a house in France I go back and forth with. They agreed since I wasn't a real resident but I filed taxes this year and the Finacias are asking about the car again. The price is about 2000 Euros! So much! Do you suggest I get a tax accountant to deal with this or should I just go to AT and talk again. I am not a Portuguese resident and reside mainly in France.
