I am going to pickup a card at the airport and I was wondering if the card is also valid in Porto? If not is there a card I can buy that does all of Portugal? Preferably easy to purchase at the airport.

No the cards are different in Lisboa and Porto. In Porto you have to buy a Andante Azul card which is similar to the Via Viagem in that you scan it when you go into the train. The cost is €1.20 for Zone 1 and €1.60 for zone 2. This is for one time use. They also have a 24-hour ticket which is good for Metros (Andante 24) that is €4.15.
The good thing is all of riverfront Porto even with it's occasional hill is totally walkable. It's quite small and easy to get around. The only reason if you are on a short trip to Porto to use the Metro is to visit a few Wineries, see the countryside or go to the airport.
