What are the rules in Portugal during Easter during the Coronavirus quarantine

Easter Restrictions During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Portugal

Easter is huge in Lisbon. At least it is for Spaniards. Seriously, the city is usually packed with our neighbors for the holiday. I haven’t figured out why…but it is. Sadly, because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, Portugal will not only be closed to tourists, there will be stricter rules than usual for those of us who live here. Here’s the breakdown from what I saw on the news:

Easter Restrictions During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Portugal

Easter Rules Portugal COVID-19

  • The state of emergency has been renewed.
  • Residents cannot leave their “conselho de residencia”, so if you live in Lisbon, you stay in Lisbon.
  • There are exceptions: work, medical, to buy essential goods, to help family members who need assistance.
  • For custody arrangements.

Airport Regulations In Portugal During Easter

  • Airports are closed
  • There are exceptions for emergency landings, delivery of goods, repatriation flights, official state flights (governmental), and official human aid flights.

These measures are in place as well as the already established Coronavirus Quarantine Rules in Portugal. The Easter rules will be in place from April 9 – 13. They may be extended, but only time will tell.
