These restaurants in Beaune are a value

What are the best restaurants in Beaune France?

Beaune Restaurants are – for the most part – amazing, but they are also quite pricey. As much as I love Beaune, the issue with staying there long term is that because these amazing restaurants tend to be expensive (and I don’t mean a little pricey – I mean break the bank expensive), it can be prohibitive to eat there. This list of inexpensive restaurants in Beaune will show you restaurants in the city (and the vicinity)…where you can eat for around €20 per person. I know this is not “cheap”, but for the area – it is…so here goes:
PRO TIP: If you are going to the Hospices De Beaune wine auction, make reservations for any restaurants at least a month in advance, they book quickly, especially those Beaune Restaurants that offer great deals.

INEXPENSIVE BEAUNE RESTAURANTS

La Table de Guigone is a restaurant in Beaune that offers a fairly priced lunch
La Table de Guigone is run by a lovely husband and wife team. Try the Andouillette – if you dare
La Table de Guigone Their €18 lunch formula is a total steal. It gets you the option of: 1 entree, 1 main course, and 1 drink OR 1 main course, 1 cheese or dessert and 1 drink. The day we visited had various options for entrees including a pumpkin soup with sausage & chestnuts, oeufs en cocotte with foie gras (both delicious). The main courses included a confit duck a l’orange & Andouillette (try it only if you have a strong stomach – the dish was properly made – but is a required taste). So go, but skip out on the sausage from hell. You’ll love everything else. 1 Place du Dr Jorrot, 21200 Beaune, France Phone +33 3 80 21 16 04

La Lune Japanese restaurant in Beaune is Fantastic
La Lune is a tiny Japanese bistro manned by two people. The food is impeccable and fairly priced
La Lune This place is AMAZING. It deserves at least one star. It is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have visited and it was a bargain when you think of the quality of food being served here. A word of advice, you need reservations (only around 20 seats)- I was able to secure mine by messaging them on Facebook (yay – social media). The wine list is superb also. Open kitchen, incredible ingredients and a laid back attitude. It is manned by the chef and one other person and yet everything is perfect. You NEED to go here.
A delicious classic French starter
Terrine of quail at L’auberge de Vigneron in Burgundy
L’Auberge de Vieux Vigneron €20 Our wine maker friend Vincent Jouard recommended this place. It’s a bit outside Beaune (10 minutes), but right in the middle of Chassagne-Montrachet. Their €20 lunch menu:
  • Entree – The Vieux Vigneron Salad: Poached egg & lardons with a few greens (delish) or Terrine of quail in Armagnac
  • Plat – Filet Mignon of Porc or Burgundian Omelette
  • Dessert – White Country Cream Cheese or Vanilla Bourbon Creme Brulee
This was an incredible deal for the calories. Our tummies, tongues, and pockets were happy. Wine started at €5 by the glass. Route de Beaune 21190 Courpeau, Bourgogne, France Phone +33 3 80 21 39 00
Appetizers fall at under €10 at le Bistro des Cocottes
Classic Burgundian dishes such as escargot can be had at fair prices at Le Bistro des Cocottes in Beaune
Le Bistro des Cocottes €20-25 While this restaurant does not have a lunch menu, their choices are super affordable and the food was delicious both times we went. You can easily build your own menu.
  • Entree – Oeuf en Meurette (€5) or Escargot (€6.5)
  • Plat – Lamb Ribs with French Fries & Vegetables (€16)
The restaurant also has a small outside area and incredibly priced wines starting at €5. You really can’t beat it!  3 Place Madeleine 21200 Beaune, Bourgogne, France Phone 03 80 24 02 60
L'Ardoise offers impeccable cooking
The duck at L’Ardoise is fantastic
L’Ardoise €20 They have an even better deal than this with their €16 menu, but you’ll want to spend the extra 4. For €16, you get an entree & plat or plat & dessert. We ended up going a la carte and for  €25 our choices were:
  • Entree – Cauliflower soup with hazelnut oil or Egg cooked at 63° (both delicious)
  • Plat – Grilled duck breast, caramelized mashed celery, honey juice or Math burger (180g Charolais steak, cheddar, bacon), salad, wedges
The chefs here definitely have the technique. The ambience is a bit more relaxed and I think you’ll enjoy the place as much as I did. 14 Rue du Faubourg Madeleine 21200 Beaune, Bourgogne, France Phone 33 3 80 21 41 34
Caves Madelein serves French Classics at good prices
Caves Madeleine is a local favorite in Beaune
Caves Madeleine €23 This has been a favorite of our team for at least 4 years. The food is solid (the Quenelles de Volaille are incredible), and the wine list is superb (even with Laurent gone). The €23 lunch menu is the way to get the best deal:
  • Appetizer – Radishes with butter (not really an appetizer – but a French classic)
  • Entree – Veloute of Cauliflower
  • Plat – Duck Confit (it was a lady bird – a Cannette)
  • Dessert – Ile Flotante (Floating island)
This place has never let us down. This is an absolute MUST when you visit Beaune. 8 Rue du Faubourg Madeleine 21200 Beaune, Bourgogne, France Phone 33 3 80 22 93 30
Caveau des Arches is a cheaper restaurant in Beaune
Caveau des Arches has an incredible lunch deal
Caveau des Arches  €25 This lovely restaurant sits right on the walls of Beaune as you are about to enter the city. The first floor has a super cool bar, but you want to be seated downstairs in the cave. Service here is perfect, the wine list (as expected) is superb and the lunch menu is a steal. There are three choices: €25, €36 and €56.  For  €25 you get a three course lunch that is a fantastic treat. During our visit, the choices included a duo of escargot & an oeuf en Meurette, chicken in Epoisses sauce with pasta, and an Entremet Poire Williams for dessert. Worth every penny. Wines by the glass started at €7. We tried four different choices and they were all spectacular. I definitely recommend this restaurant. 10 boulevard Perpreuil 21200 Beaune, Bourgogne, France Phone +33 3 80 22 10 37 A FEW SPLURGES THAT ARE WORTH THE MONEY
Le Benaton has a fair, albeit not inexpensive lunch menu
The amuse-bouche at Le Benaton was foie & lobster. This is so worth it
Le Benaton €40 This 1 star Michelin restaurant offers an amazing lunch deal. Their €34 menu:
  • Mise en Bouche – foie gras and lobster mousse
  • Entree – asparagus and shrimp on an asparagus veloutee
  • Plat – confit of duck encrusted in spiced bread with seasonal vegetables and potatoess
  • Dessert – Citrus Napoleon
While this restaurant is not cheap, the quality of food an service will seriously make up for it. They also have bottles of wine at around €30. 25 Rue du Faubourg Bretonnière 21200 Beaune, Bourgogne, France Phone +33 3 80 22 00 26
A Michelin star prix fixe with dessert included in this Beaune Restaurants
This dish from Le Carmin was named Freshnes of Citrus in Yuzu – all you need to know is that it was delish
Le Carmin €35 Again, €35 ain’t cheap…but when you have a Michelin star, the concept of value changes. Lovely place…definitely not ready for two stars…but a lovely meal at an amazing price. On top of that, this menu is offered for lunch AND dinner Tuesday – Saturday. Talk about a score:
  • Filet of Mackerel in Escabeche
  • Red Label Pork with A Mousseline of Potatoes (yum)
  • Fresh chevre cheese from the Claviere Farm
  • Yuzu dessert
Again, some affordable wine choices and a lovely way to splurge on yourself. 4b Place Carnot 21200 Beaune, Bourgogne, France Phone +33 3 80 24 22 42 Let me know what you think about these Beaune Restaurants in the comments, and if you have other suggestions for nicely priced restaurants in Beaune, let me know.
