Blanca Valbuena Staff answered 5 years ago Porto is safe. Portugal in general is safe. As long as you follow regular precautions, you should be fine there. I don't think you have a need for mace. Besides, mace is illegal unless you have a permit here in Portugal. It is considered a weapon by the GNR (Portuguese Police). If you have mace you need to have a license for it. Like I said, follow basic safety rules and 99.99% of the time you will be safe. Have a great time!
