Lisbon Art Classes

I've made art my entire life. As I got older, life (work) got in the way. That's why I began taking art courses, it made it so I had to create. In NYC I took classes at the Art Students League, those were some of the best courses I took and I am so lucky for it. I have just recently made Lisbon home base, and I am starting to do my research to find art classes that fit me and my personality. Right now, this list of Lisbon Art Classes is just research, but as I test some out, I'll add some insights. If you have suggestions on Lisbon Art Classes for me, please leave them in the comments and let me know what you think!

Lisbon Art Classes

Clube de Desenho Lisboa $

This is a fantastic spot if you're on a budget. This is more of a club than a class and payment is beyond fair. You can pay in cash, goods, or services. For example:

Payments in Cash

3€ each workshop // 10€ a month
1-off workshops: 6€

Payments in Goods

- give or lend for a month or 2
- New/old / 2nd hand - if it still works it's still good 🙂
eg: Guitar / ukulele / computer / food mixer / camera / art equipment ( brushes / pencils etc etc )

Payments in Services

- Admin help // Guitar lessons // be a model for drawing

Samantha Wilson $$

Wilson is a working artist who runs both group and individual classes in Lisboa. Her classes are incredibly affordable at 15€ for a one hour class. However, you must commit to at least 4 classes and if you sign up for a 12-week program, you get a 10% discount.

Facultade de Belas Artes $$$$

This is where you want to go if you're really serious. This is one of Lisbon's art colleges and the education here is superb. You can take all sorts of classes here including:

  • multimedia art
  • sciences of art and heritage
  • drawing
  • communication design
  • equipment design
  • sculpture
  • painting

The annual fee at the Faculatede de Belas Artes starts at about 1,000 Euros.

Thank you so much for this! I, similarly to you, have loved art and been involved in it in various ways, all my life, in NY as well. And now that I’ve moved to Portugal, I’m looking for a community and an opportunity to continue learning technique and create. Do you by any chance know of any welding or metal working courses in Portugal?

    Best of luck!
    Kate

Hi Kate, So nice to meet you. There is a nice (small group) on Facebook for artists in Lisbon. Not sure where you are located, but it is a very nice group.

I’m not aware of welding courses, but I’ll ask around and update here via reply. That should notify you 🙂
