Antonio Evans Staff asked 5 years ago We are a Canadian couple who part-takes from time to time with some smokes or edibles. Since it's now legal in Canada it's been quite easy to get. We have a 24-day tour coming up of Portugal (5-days in Madrid layover). If we wanted to smoke up some where would we get it? My husband has been to Portugal a few years back and says you can buy stuff on the street but it's pretty bad. Are there shops like in Berlin and Amsterdam? I also don't fully understand the law in Portugal but from my Google Translate it says it's fully legal. Any guidance?

Antonio Evans Staff answered 5 years ago It's not legal to purchase or sell drugs in Portugal. If you are caught with more than personal use of drugs (I believe it's two weeks worth) you could be charged with a crime and have your Visa revoked. Not worth it.
Portugual isn't Amsterdam but yes drug laws are more about prevention then prosecution.
