As many of you already know, Antonio and I adopted a dog, so we have been learning everything there is to know about having a dog in Portugal. One problem we have is that I don’t drive stick. Antonio does, but he doesn’t always want to lug us around (and who can blame him – […]
Why? Go to Belem, park in the outside parking space on water and pay your daily 10 euros. Castelo is no where near Belem but you can see both in a day (I wouldn’t. Sounds like alot of travel and not seeing the sites fully). Do me a favor. Go to Belem, park. Visit the […]
It’s about 1.5 hours between Lisboa and Fatima. Easy drive. You can take Airbnb Experiences to it or just hire a driver. The tours are pretty lame and for old people. Rent a car, take experience or just train it up works also.
You’re going to bike it? There are paths. Leaving Sintra you will go down hill but honestly it’s not the countryside you want to see. It will be strip malls, boring roads and no fun. Do the train with your bikes to Lisboa and then explore from their.
That is a weird drive. Hope you are not doing it in one day. Evora is 1.5 hours+ from Lisboa. Lisboa is 30+ minutes to Sintra. If I was do all 3 cities. I would do the day trip Lisboa – Sintra. Then do a night in Evora. It’s a nice drive most of the […]
It really depends on where the conference is at. I’m guessing it is at Parque das Nacoes (most conferences are held there). You can always do an Airnbn or you can check out one of the local hotels. They’re pricy, but will be convenient. You have a few options including: Ibis PDN Olissippo Hotel Roma […]
There are buses from Lisbon, but I don’t think there are trains. Buses take about an hour and a half, driving should take a little over an hour. The site of Fatima is pretty accessible to the elderly and the city is flat, unlike most of Lisbon. I did not make any bookings and got […]
Rossio station is perfect for Sintra. You can buy the tickets at the ticket machines at the station or at the ticket window. It’s really easy. Make sure that you swipe the ticket on your way in and to get out. You will need a ticket for each person. You can also catch the Sintra […]
So… Look up! It’s right there. Do the walk up the hill through the Mouria and you will see old Portugal. There is also an elevator near Rossio which can get you closer but you will miss the graffiti the old ladies and the grit which is Portugal .
I’d make Lisbon home base. You can get to Estoril by train and there is a ton more stuff to do in Lisbon, especially since it’s also more convenient to visit Sintra from Lisboa. Estoril has the casino, the beach and a very good Chinese restaurant, so if you’re looking to relax, you can certainly […]
I would suggest for first time traveler do a 4-day Lisboa and a 3-day local sights. Why I say 4-days. Day 1, jet lag and getting lay of the land. You probably will eat locally and begin to get aclimated. Day 2. Site like Belem or Cascias. Day 3. Do downtown and walk through chiado […]
So for me most musuems and national monuements are free once you’re a resident. I would if I was a visiting a city for 20 hours or even 4 hours to do the Lisboa card. It has so many benefits: Attraction Discount Amoreiras Shopping 5 € shops/1€ belvedere Aquario Vasco da Gama 20% Exhibition April […]
Welcome gals! So If I was 5-gals (and I am not) and wanted to have the Sex in the City kind of adventure I would hit: -LX Factory for nightly drinks -Bairro Alto for a nutty night with British and backpacking kids 11-Eleven for the one fancy meal you will have Sintra for some culture […]
I would suggest then Bairro Alto or near Cais Sodre. It’s kind of the party neighborhood. It’s not what I would suggest for anything more then 1-night but you will have fun. Blow off steam. Try and vist our city for 10-days and I can give you a better itinerary.
Since you’re staying on Avenida Liberdade you have tons of choices. That’s pretty much the center of everything. From there I would absolutely go to the Miradouro of Sao Pedro de Alcantara. Great views and a fantastic spot to grab a snack and a drink. Not too far from there is Sao Roque, a museum/church […]
Hey, just saw your question. If you go to Obidos, I would highly recommend a visit to Bacalhoa Buddha Eden (Bombarral), It’s a park that was created by a winery with tons of great art. It’s truly special. When you go to Sintra, if you haven’t seen it yet, check out Monserrate. It is my […]
